On Not Winning Nanowrimo

Yes you read the title right.  I did not win Nanowrimo this year.  I have participated in this world wide event for now four years, losing the first two years and winning the second two.  Now my fifth time entering and I lost again, at an all time low with 1478 words. It’s not really losing that I mind so much, it’s missing the whole thing.  Nanowrimo has a wonderful writing community, full of dedicated people who have helped me so much over the past years.  It makes me sad that I didn’t get the time to dedicate to writing.  Don’t get me wrong I’m glad I was busy in Mexico, and I would do it over again.  But my writing is so much a part of me, that when I don’t have enough time to dedicate myself to it…it feels as if something is missing, like something is wrong.

The question that now presents itself is this:  What must I do to make sure I keep up with my writing? How do I keep a balance of life and my fiction?

For now these are rhetorical questions for myself, but feel free to give advice. 🙂
