“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases. I’ve never participated in this before, but it looked interesting, and I’ve seen it going around before.
So there’s one book that I am eagerly awaiting more than any other. And by eagerly I mean waiting on pins and needles. This book is Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.
Rainbow Rowell continues to break boundaries with Carry On, an epic fantasy following the triumphs and heartaches of Simon and Baz from her beloved bestseller Fangirl.
Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest, and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he’ll be safe. Simon can’t even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can’t stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you’re the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.
Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story — but far, far more monsters.
I am a huge Rainbow Rowell fan. Even though I don’t usually books in the Romance genre, I adore the way that Rowell writes. Her characters are some of the most believable, most relatable that I ever encountered in books. So far I’ve read Attachments, Fangirl, Landline and Eleanor and Park. I’ve heard that Rowell has a story in a holiday short story collection, but I have yet to get my hands on it. And sadly I don’t own copies of any of her books, yet. Don’t worry, I will be rectifying this soon enough. 😀
Is anyone else excited for this release?
