Recently I’ve been going through a reading slump. As a book reviewer I have to read a lot of books…Like a lot of books. Right now I have 16 books that I have on my list for next month. 16 books, and it’s probably going to grow! *sigh*
So the past two weeks I’ve found myself looking at my stack of books and wishing it would disappear. Β It’s not that I’m not excited about the books, I am! I can’t wait to read about Jason Bourne and immerse myself in the world of The Help. I just can’t seem to get myself to pick up a book and read it.
It’s taken some time, but I might have found a solution.I was wondering if you, my lovely readers, would like to read a book with me over the course of a couple weeks? Here’s what I’d do: First I’d give you guys a list of books and we’d decide what to read and decide how long it will take us to finish. Β I’m thinking more than 2 weeks but no more than 4 weeks. Β Then at the end of the week I’d post an update on how I’m doing, and you guys could either post on your blogs or talk about the book in the comments.
I think this could be a lot of fun. If I had someone(s) to read with then I would have more of a reason to get excited. And to actually finish a book.
So what do you think? Yes or No? Let me know! π
I like this plan! I am always up for reading a new book. I’m just about to finish Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Any chance Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides or Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay is on your to-read list?
Yay! Oh I want to read that book, I’ll have to put it on my list.
Gah I wish, both those books sound awesome. I’ll have to look at my library and see if they have either of them.
Just let me know! I would be happy to read-along with another book as well. Those two are just at the top of my list at the moment π
Okay, will do! π
https://whimsywriter3.wordpress.com/2015/11/10/tigers-curse-read-a-long/ Here’s the latest update. Also are you on Goodreads?
yes, we are friends on goodreads! I sent you an email with my username because I’m writing this blog anonymously
Okay awesome! So I can start a goodreads group and it would be cool with everyone?
sounds great to me!
I’d love to! Although I have a lot of books in my TBR and I dont know if I’ll be able to find the book you chose, but I’ve always wanted to do something like this!
Awesome, well that’s two already! Some of the books on my list right now are: Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende, Sherlock Holms vol 2, Tiger’s Curse Colleen Houck, Mind of the Phoenix by Jamie McLachlan, The Borne Identity, The Help and The Witch of Lime Street.
Any of those books work? What’s on your list, maybe I can find something from yours that’s also on mine. π
Awesome! I’ve read Sherlock Holmes but I’d love to read one of the books together again! I’ve read The Help, it’s amazing and I wouldn’t mind rereading it. I also have the ebooks for Tiger’s Curse and The Bourne Identity so I’m quite interested to read that together if you want to.
For me, I’m planning on reading Emma by Jane Austen and The Scapegoat by Daphne Du Maurier, and I’ve just ordered The Book Thief from Book Depository which will arrive in a week or two! So, if you’re interested in any of those let me know, but I’d love to read The Bourne Identity π
I want to read Emma as well! and, I loved the Book Thief! I actually read it while I was in Switzerland, which is the closest to Germany I’ve ever been, so it was very cool (Germany is where the book is set). But I would highly recommend the Book Thief.
Great! I guess it’s really up to you, which book you want to choose as the readalong π
Ooh if you have the ebook of Tiger’s Curse then that would be first on my list. I need to get the book done and sent back to a friend.
So yes to Tiger’s Curse?
Yes!
awesome! How does starting on the 9th sound?
Great!
I am that friend. And I would love to join this little reading club. Name the book and I am so there. It just sounds like so much fun.
Yes! π Thanks, I’m so glad you decided to join.
Yes please!! I have read The Help but would happily read again and am looking for new material! I would love to do this!
Yay! Glad you could join. I think we might be settling on Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9284655-tiger-s-curse
Sweet! When do we start?! Can I get it at the library or do I need to go purchase it… I have a book problem as in I buy so many and I re-read them so I am Trying to do the library!
I’m thinking about starting next Monday, the 9th. I’m sure it would be in the YA section of the library, it’s a pretty popular book. If not here’s a link to it on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Tigers-Curse-Book/dp/1402784031/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446432897&sr=8-1&keywords=Tiger%27s+Curse
This is fabulous and much needed!
I will have Fannie Flagg “A Redbird Christmas” finished by then! Books are like air to me and a fabulous friend dropped off a Bag for me knowing I would need them! This one is a very pleasant read thus far!
I’m so excited!! Thank you!!
Sounds awesome! π
Are you on goodreads? Just curious, because if everyone is then I will start a reading group for us. π
No but I like the sound of it! I can join it if I am allowed!
Cool let me know if you join and I’ll add you to the group. π
