Flash Fiction Story: Rapunzel

How could she be Rapunzel without her hair? She lay in the hospital bed, her bald head covered by a beanie. The IV dripping into her bloodstream. She was so tired of this. She missed her long hair.  Rapunzel. That’s what they called her at school. Now what did they call her? She didn’t know. They didn’t visit anymore. They had at first, all of her friends, coming with cards and flowers and chocolates. Now she was alone. The nurses coming in and out at scheduled times. Her parents coming at their scheduled times. She was dying a lonely person.
