Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog event hosted by The Broke and Bookish. This week we’re talking about book titles! The original post says unique titles but that seemed to vague for me, so I decided to break it down into three categories of titles that I liked or didn’t like. Hope you enjoy!
Book Titles I like:
I like these titles because they speak clearly about what’s going to happen in the story. Stone Butch Blues is an amazing title, it jumps out at you in a great way. It’s not cliche, it’s making a point. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue speaks to the fun and adventure this book will take you on. A good title tells a little story of it’s own in my opinion.
Book Titles That Are Only Okay:
These are titles that I find alright. They’re interesting enough but they definitely don’t jump out at me. I’ve picked these books up either for the cover (The Bone Witch) or because I’ve read a book in the series already (Venturess) or at pure random just for the hell of it (Poison Study).
Book Titles That Are Cliche As Hell:
These titles make me roll my eyes. In my opinion they’re just trying too hard to be cool. Tempest has the added bonus of a terribly cliche cover. Someone Else’s Life makes you need to read it in a dramatic voice, but then you laugh and never pick up the book again. And Otherbound…it just sounds like it’s trying to be an epic movie.
