July was a really great reading month for me. At one point I even caught up to my goal, sadly that only lasted a day. But still I’m only 2 books behind now and I’m at a total of 142 books for the year. And I’ve read a total of 24 books this month.
1 Star: This category is about my usual, there’s bound to be a book or two in the month that I just hate. I really wanted to like both Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Born of Illusion. I also thought I was going to enjoy Young Jane Young more, but I honestly hated everything about it. Fatal Throne I didn’t really have expectations for, but it was still disappointing.
2 Stars: I’ve written a review for this book already, which you can find here. It was not the book I thought it would be.
3 Stars: Usually this category is much larger! I’m really proud of my reading this month. I was definitely disappointed with Eden Conquered, I was hoping it would be much better than just three stars. I’ll be writing a review for it soon. Reign of the Fallen was another disappointment, I really liked the premise but there were just a few parts that were boring. What It Means When a Man Falls From the Sky and The Refugees were both short story collections, so it’s harder to rate those books. There were stories I loved and stories I hated.
4 Stars: Sadly no 5 star books this month, but plenty of four star reads! There’s almost too many to really sum up. I’ll just point out my absolute favorites. I was pretty hesitant about Given to Earth, I wanted it to be good but I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Thankfully it was great! I was blown away by Atelier Crenn’s Metamorphosis of Taste. The Pervert was a random read in the comic book store and it was really good, and very moving. And Symphony For the City of the Dead was a non-fiction read and I learned so much and really enjoyed it. I will be doing reviews for all of these books eventually. 🙂
And that’s all for this month! What did you read this month? If you’ve written a wrap up post be sure to leave a link in the comments, I’d love to see all the books you’ve read this month.
