Top Ten Tuesday – Books Set In Or Around Libraries And Bookstores

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. And today’s topic is about bookstores and libraries that you want to visit, but I decided to change it books featuring these two fantastic places. It turns out I haven’t read many books with libraries or bookstores, but here are 7 books I remember.  Hope you enjoy!

1. Mr. Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan.

I picked up this book quite by chance several years ago, simply because it had the word bookstore in the title. 😀  It’s really quite a fun story though and if you like books then you’ll probably like this book!

2. Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann.

This book has a lot of great things about it, and one of them is the fact that the main character works in a library. In fact that’s where she meets her love interest!

3. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor.

The library in this book is tended to by monks of sorts, and of course the main character. And that’s just one great part of this fascinating story!

4. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

It’s funny I saw this book on a couple of different blogs, but they all mentioned the bookstore where Harry gets his school texts. I had forgotten about that place! Honestly I just loved the library at his school, especially the restricted section. 😉

5. A Dance With Dragons by George R. R. Martin.

I can’t honestly remember which book first mentions The Citadel, so I just grabbed this cover since I had it handy. Anyway, I loved reading about Sam’s adventures in this library.

6. The Body in the Library by Agatha Christi.

Who doesn’t love a good Agatha Christie novel? And what would make it even better is a murder in the library. 😀

7. The Book Theif by Markus Zusak.

While this library might not be one you’d be interested in actually going to, it is featured in this amazing book. So if you haven’t read it already, you should!

That’s all for this week! Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to leave a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post.

  1. I loved all the library bits in Let’s Talk About Love, and I think there’s still a big part of me that wants to go and work in a library myself! If you’re interested in fantasy, Genevieve Cogman’s Invisible Library series involves a library that exists between all the worlds, and a Librarian who’s tasked with tracking down various books and things like that – it’s pretty great.
