On Failing NaNoWriMo

This was originally posted on my Patreon, I post all my writing and sneak peaks on that website first. If you’d like to get access to these posts please consider supporting me. Thanks!

There’s only five days left this month, which means I’ve definitely lost this year’s NaNo. My current total is 22,629. And it will be the first time I’ve lost since 2014. A year ago this would have been pretty frustrating and sad for me, I like a challenge and I don’t like it when I fail. But this year I’m taking things in stride. Sometimes things just don’t work out. What matters is I did write 22k. I did participate and I had fun with what I wrote. I did my best and that’s what matters.

Next year marks the 10th anniversary of my challenges with NaNoWriMo and I’m determined to win that year. Until then I’m going to keep on writing, and keep on editing and querying and everything else that I do. And I’m also going to give myself the space to have a life, to sometimes fail and to pick myself up when I do and keep on.
