Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is supposed to be about bookish places that you’d like to visit, but I feel like I’ve done that topic recently so instead I’m going to talk about some books with great world-building. Hope you enjoy!
1. Tamora Pierce’s books.
I love all the different places that Pierce has in her books. Each book draws you into the world.
2. Given Series.
I love all the different people groups and their cultures in this duology, it was by far my favorite thing about McGinnis’ books.
3. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.
There’s a lot of fantasy series on this list, so of course George R. R. Martin’s series would be here. I love all of the politics and the families and how they are all intertwined.
4. The Harry Potter Series.
Again, this series almost had to be on this list. There are very few worlds that are so well known as much as Rowling’s.
5. All of L. M. Montgomery’s books.
Most of the books take place in the same world of Avonlea, or near there. Actually I can’t even remember if she has a book set elsewhere. I love Avonlea and all the stories that happen in it.
6. R. F. Kuang.
This book is new to me, but already I’ve fallen in love with the world. I can’t wait to read more in the series.
7. The world of Lemony Snicket.
From hotels, to reptile rooms to houses above lakes with leeches. These books have some of the best stories and a really fun world.
These comics are so colorful! Which really bring out how cool the world is.
9. The Night Circus.
This book was one of my favorites when I was a teen. In fact I’m really excited to read Morgenstern’s new book because I’m sure the world-building will be amazing.
10. Hartan’s world.
Again a new world to me and it’s pretty neat. I love the dragons, and the other types of dragonoid creatures. I really need to finish reading the series honestly. 😀
