Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. I only did 7 books because it’s been awhile since I’ve read a book where I related a lot to a character. Still these are 7 great characters and I hope you enjoy it!
1. The Book of Essie by Meghan Maclean Weir
I just read this book recently and really connected with the main character. I grew up in a large very religious family and left and had to deal with wanting to speak my truth but not wanting to hurt anyone, but also being angry. I loved this story and how Essie dealt with it all.
2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I know, I know. I mention this book all the time. Forgive me. 😀 It’s just that, Cath is me. Quiet, writer, shy, anxious, loving books more than people. This was me all in high school. Thankfully now I’ve gone to therapy so I have a little better handle on my anxiety than Cath does. 😀
3. Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova
I honestly can’t remember now what was the actual very first book I read with a bisexual main character, but this is the first book that came to mind. Magic, witches and girls in love with girls. I loved this book!
4. The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
This book was not all that I hoped it was, but man did I relate to the main character. Much like I related to Essie, this book deals with parents and religion and learning who you are.
5. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
A book with a lot of sisters? How could I not relate. I have 8 sisters!
6. Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
I’ve had to completely replace my copies of this series because I read them all the time as a kid. I literally wore them out. But I always related to how Anne saw the world as magical, as people was wonderful, books as friends and I always wanted to be as happy as she was.
7. We Are Okay by Nina LaCour
Another book about a bisexual girl (actually is she bi or a lesbian? Clearly I need to reread this story), but anyway. I related to her feeling of wanting to run away when life gets too hard to deal with.
Who are some characters you relate to the most? Don’t forget to leave your a link to your Top Ten Tuesday post.
Lovely list. I have seen Cath, any of the Bennet sisters, and Anne on several lists today!
