Top Ten Tuesday is a blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic favorite books released in the last ten years (one book per year), which seemed like a really fun idea but I’m not always on top of reading books when they come out. So I just decided to go with my favorite books that I read through the last 10 years. Which seemed like a lot of fun! It also allowed me to look back on some of the books I’ve read in the last 10 years. I started with this year (although the book is guaranteed to change by the end of the year) and worked my way backwards. Hope you enjoy!
1. 2019 – The Book of Essie
So far this has been my favorite book of the year, the story was riveting and emotional and I connected with the main character so much.
2. 2018 – Let’s Talk About Love
Ugh, my gosh this book was amazing! I loved the characters and the story, and it how it made me fall in love with falling in love. I only gave the book 4 stars but still when I look back on 2018 this book stands out the most.
3. 2017 – Next Year, for Sure
I had a really hard time picking my favorite book from this year. I read a total of 276 books and so many good ones too! But when it came down to it this book was the one that spoke to me the most. A great story with relatable characters, and it had polyamory representation which hardly ever happens.
4. 2016 – The Art of Asking
Talk about an inspiring book! This book was funny, helpful, inspiring and so much more. I already really looked up to Amanda Palmer, but more so after reading this book.
5. 2015 – Love Fortunes and Other Disasters
I had a hard time picking out a book from this year, but ended up going with this story because it was so cute and unique. I loved the characters and the writing style.
6. 2014 – Just Kids
Ah yes, the first year I read this book. I read this book at least once a year because I love it so much!
7. 2013 – Notes from Underground & Other Short Stories
This is the collection of stories that first made me fall in love with Dostoyevsky and Russian literature. White Nights made me cry.
8. 2013 – The Night Circus
You’ll notice I have two books on my list from 2013, that’s for two reasons. Firstly because I didn’t keep very good track of what I read in 2012 and didn’t like the choices I did have on Goodreads. And the other reason is because I couldn’t decided which 2013 book to choose. Both of this and the above book changed my reading life.
9. 2011 – Our Mutual Friend
This is the book that made me fall in love with Charles Dickens. I had so much fun reading this story and couldn’t put it down.
10. 2010 – Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under the Sea
My first experience with Jules Verne and despite the many many descriptions of fish and ocean life, it’s a great story. What
