Weekend Cooking – Hungry For More by Chrissy Teigen

Weekend Cooking is a blog meme hosted by Beth Fish Reads. Today I’m doing a review for Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook Hungry For More.

Goodreads Synopsis: Cravings: Hungry for More takes us further into Chrissy’s kitchen…and life. It’s a life of pancakes that remind you of blueberry pie, eating onion dip with your glam squad, banana bread that breaks the internet, and a little something called Pad Thai Carbonara. After two years of parenthood, falling in love with different flavors, and relearning the healing power of comfort food, this book is like Chrissy’s new edible diary: recipes for quick-as-a-snap meals; recipes for lighter, brighter, healthier-ish living; and recipes that, well, are gonna put you to bed, holding your belly. And it will have you hungry for more.

Find on Goodreads and Amazon.

I had my doubts about this cookbook, considering it was written by a celebrity and as a whole books written by celebrities tend to be badly written and boring. But that might just be me. Anyway, I still gave this book a try because it was 2018 Goodreads Choice Award winner.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this cookbook. I made one of the meals right away and it was a big hit for my family. You can find that post here. I also made notes to save several other recipes. I liked Teigen’s flavor base for the book. I loved all of her ideas for slaws and how she liked to add spice to different foods.

Usually I like cookbooks that help you make everything from scratch, which is why I’m not going to be buying this cookbook. But there’s still a lot of great ideas here, especially if you’re looking to cook up a good meal in a hurry. I will also say I skipped over most of her actual commentary, unless it gave helpful hints on how to make something, because I really wasn’t a fan of the writing style.

All in all though, great cookbook. Glad I read it. Will try some of other recipes I saved, and I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

  1. I still plan to see if my library has this … a 4/5 rating is pretty good. I know what you mean about being wary of celeb cookbooks, though.
