Top Ten Tuesday – Best Books From The First Half of the Year

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is actually about anticipated reads for the second half the year. But I don’t really follow which books are coming out when, I really should but I just have so many other books to keep track of. Anyway, I decided to talk about my favorite reads so far for this year. These are not books that were published this year.

1.The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.

I am so glad that I finally read this book. Though I think I do like Miller’s second book better, I did thoroughly enjoy this story. I loved the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus. And Miller’s writing is amazing.

2. The Book of Essie By Meghan Maclean Weir.

This book ripped my heart out in such a good way, and the end was just so good. The writing and the characters are super powerful. I love stories of women reclaiming their power.

3. Just Kids by Patti Smith.

I’ve loved this book for awhile, but I really enjoyed the illustrated version that came out this year.

4. Childhood Distrupted by Donna Jackson Nakazawa.

This book helped me get back to therapy after not having gone for a year. I learned so much from reading this, and I highly recommend it to you all.

5. Saga by Brian K. Vaughan.

Oh my god this latest volume! Just when I thought the series couldn’t get better it did. No spoilers but also…I cried a lot at the end.

I have reviews for all these books on my blog, all you have to do is search for the author. What are some of your favorite reads for this year? Don’t forget to share your Top Ten Tuesday list, I’d love to get an idea of what books are coming out later this year!

  1. I like your twist on the prompt! You’re probably the most disciplined bookdragon I’ve seen for not falling all over new releases. Teach me your ways! xD I’ve heard such good things about The Song of Achilles, and I’m really looking forward to reading it! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

    Here’s my TTT post.
