Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog post hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is about changes in bookish life since 2010. Which for me seemed like a crazy long time, I mean I was only just 15 at this time in 2010. I also couldn’t think of ten things, so today we’re doing five. But let’s dive into the topic now! Hope you all enjoy. 🙂
1. I don’t read as many classics anymore.
I mostly only read classics and historical fiction from 2010-2014. Now I’m reading a lot more YA, more adult fiction, diving into sci-fi and horror.
2. The library is now my main source of books.
Off and on throughout the 10 years I had access to libraries, but back then I was still living with my parents and we moved around a lot. I mostly read the books I could get my hands on via friends, the books I owned and our kindles. Now that I’ve lived in Eugene for four years I mostly read library books.
3. I’ve allowed myself the space to DNF books.
10 years ago I would have loathed the idea of quitting a book. These days I do it all the time. I love reading, but I also love reading books that interest me. If a book doesn’t hook me within 50 pages somethings wrong and I don’t need to force myself to slog through something boring. My time is far too valuable for that bullshit.
4. I blog more consistently about books.
And review more too! I used to post on this blog once in a blue moon. Now I have a very strict schedule of when to post and what to post. It’s really fun most of the time. But also this year I’ve been giving myself the space to NOT post every single day, and not beat myself up about it.
In the past three or four years I’ve begun to use NetGalley, which has been a lot of fun. Though I still need to work on not letting myself request too many books. 😀
How has your reading life changed since 2010? Don’t forget to share your TTT post with me. 🙂
