Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is a genre freebie, so I decided to go with books that I’ve found transport me to another world. When things get crazy it’s nice to curl up with a book, and now more than ever I just want to read something cute and fluffy and wholesome. So here are some of my picks, and I’d love it if you all would share yours!
1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Or really any of her books, this is just the one that’s been on mind since I just introduced the 1995 Colin Firth version to my girlfriend last weekend. Anyway, these books are great for a cute wholesome romance read with a cup of tea.
2. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
This was just so adorable, and honestly I wish I owned it so that I could read it again. It’s the kind of romance that gives you second hand butterflies and everything.
3. Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell
Friendship and love is what Rowell does best and this comic is both of those. With the added bonus of not only being a great story but also having beautiful art!
4. Prince & Knight by Daniel Haak
Wouldn’t be a fluffy wholesome book list without at least one kid’s lit recommendation. I adore this book.
5. Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann
You all have heard me rave about this book before and I’m sure this won’t be the last time I mention it. It’s cute, it’s diverse, it’s fluffy as fuck. It’s everything you need right now.
6. Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius
I haven’t read this book in ages, but I remember it being super cute and fun to read. The world is super well written.
7. Tamora Pierce’s Protectors of the Small series
Maybe instead of a romance you need something badass? Here’s my recommendation! A female main character who absolutely kicks butt in a fun fantasy world.
8. Deadly Sweet by Lola Dodge
This book is not only fun but also has lots of fun sweets mentioned in, and who knows? Maybe it will give you inspiration to do some baking of your own.
9. Other Minds by Peter Godfrey-Smith
The only non-fiction on this list, but I wanted to make sure that I had a varied set of recommendations. I was absolutely fascinated learning about Octopus.
10. Rat Queens
This is probably the most adventur-y/intense book on this list. But it’s still a fun read. The world transports you through fairly typical DnD like missions, but has the bonus of having only female characters.
Sorry that this post is a day late! The world is hectic and got to me a bit yesterday. But here the post is now and I’d love to see your Top Ten Tuesday posts!
