This tag was originally created by YouTuber G-Swizzle Books. I was not tagged but I saw the tag on a blog recently and knew I had to do it. Brooklyn 99 is one of my favorite shows right now. In this tag, all one has to do is pick books and characters who are similar to the characters from B99.
Jake Peralta – A Character Who Lives To Be The Hero
This was a hard one for me because I don’t really read a lot of books with characters who need to be the hero because I find them annoying and self absorbed. The only reason I like Jake Peralta is because he knows that he’s annoying and self-absorbed. 😀 Sooo I decided to go with Simon from Rainbow Rowell’s Carry On series. Not only does he need to be the hero, he’s literally the chosen one. Seemed fitting.
Amy Santiago – A Character That Empowers You
Ahh Amy, the character most like myself, gotta love a high-strung nerd. 😀 For this category I chose Esther from The Book of Essie. I related to her character a lot and found her escape story extremely empowering.
Captain Holt – An amazing diverse character that breaks stereotypes
I know that I have talked about this book over and over again. But seriously! When is the last time you read about with an asexual character? For me it’s when I read this book. It’s an adorable book with a wonderful diverse character, just like Holt.
Rosa Diaz – A bad-ass female character you’d hate to mess with
Just thinking about this book makes me want to re-read it. Alex’s story rips your heart out and makes you think, she’s so badass! McGinnis is a fabulous writer. Diaz extremely similar to Alex.
Charles Boyle – An awkward, but oh-so-loveable character
Ah Charles…Ahh Apollo. Two awkward beans. Boyle is probably the most awkward of the two but he’s also probably just a little more loveable than Apollo. 😀
Terry Jeffords – The big guy that looks tough with a soft heart
My first thought when I came to this category was Brienne of Tarth from the Game of Thrones series. She’s big and badass but underneath it all we know she has the heart of a romantic. She doesn’t fight to be bad, she fights to protect.
Gina Linetti – A book or series on your TBR that has a massive fanbase
I’ll be honest, it took me forever to like Linetti. Probably didn’t realize that I liked her character till after she left because she’s so so fucking annoying. Butttt once she was gone I kinda missed her. For this category I chose The Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare. There seems to be a lot of fans of Clare’s books. I read a few of them years and years ago and hated them. I like her books are trashy and her characters annoying. Which made this series seem perfect for this category, even though it’s not on my TBR. I don’t really keep up with books that are popular.
Scully & Hitchcock – An iconic fictional duo
Scully and Hitchcock are hilarious and gross and such a fun part of the show. On the other side we have the iconic duo of Marco and Alana. They are so cute and sweet and such a good couple.
Adrian Pimento – A loose canon of a character
No one is as much of a loose canon as Pimento but Lila could sure come close. Pimento is probably one of my favorite characters in the entire show. 😀
The Vulture – The antagonist that steals the show
Oh the Vulture the bad guy you love to hate, this definitely made me think of Negan from The Walking Dead. Personally I like Negan more, even though I didn’t like the comic series very well.
The Pontiac Bandit – The antagonist you can’t help but love
And last but not least, Doug Judy! No one compares to the fun banter between him and Peralta. I always love when they bring him back for an episode. The antagonist in Lost Boy is not the same as Doug Judy, Peter Pan here is definitely evil and The Pontiac Bandit is not. But it was the first thing I thought about.
