Top Ten Tuesday – 10 Books Recently Recommended To Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Today’s topic is about books you’ve recently bought or borrowed that were recommended to you.  I don’t buy books very often, since I have a very strict policy about the library I’m creating, and also because I have a hard time buying myself things. Anywho, since the libraries are all currently closed it’s been awhile since I’ve had a new book in the house. So I decided to go with books that were most recently recommended to me.  Hope you enjoy!

1. How To be A Conscious Eater – By Sophie Egan

To be honest, most of my recommendations these days come either from books or from Goodreads. I love seeing what other people are reading, and occasionally the suggested books by the website are actually good. I can’t remember exactly which one this book was, but I saw it first on Goodreads.

2. Elysium Girls – By Kate Pentecost

I feel like this was probably I book I saw someone else reading or adding to their TBR. The cover drew me in right away, though I am a bit hesitant with the synopsis. Still, worth a try right?

3. The Emperor of Water Clocks – By Yusef Komunkakaa

This book was mentioned in a book I recently read, and the title was just so unique that I had to look it up.

4. Deathworld – By Harry Harrison

This book was recommended to me by a friend, since I’m trying to get into sci-fi more I decided to add it to the TBR shelf.

5. Exquisite Cadavers – By Meena Kandasamy

Another Goodreads recommendation. The cover, the title, everything seems like it’s just the book for me.

6. Pantsdrunk: The Finish Path To Relaxation – By Miska Rantanen

Because I’m reading all of these self help books Goodreads finally caught up and has been showing me all the others that I could read. 😀

7. Ruby-Fruit Jungle – By Rita Mae Brown

I think I’ve mentioned this book before, but it was mentioned in one of Bechdel’s comics so I knew I had to check it out asap.

8. Docile – By K. M. Szpara

Hmmm…I can’t exactly remember if I saw someone else reading this book or if it was just a Goodreads suggestion. Either way, I’m very interested in giving it a try.

9. Prosper’s Demon – By K. J. Parker

The cover and title for this book is just too good. How can you look at this and not want to read it?

10. Women Artists and the Surrealist Movement – By Whitney Chadwick

Last but not least, I’m always looking to learn more about women in history so this book seemed like just the thing. I believe I heard of it in another of Bechdel’s comics, but don’t quote me on that. 😀

What books have been recently recommended to you? Do you buy books frequently? Anyone else having a hard time with the libraries being closed? Don’t forget to share you TTT post with me!
