Top Ten Tuesday – Books That Make Me Smile

Top Ten Tuesday has come around again and today’s topic seemed like such a cute idea that I was actually looking forward to it. I can’t wait to read other posts about books that make people smile. I hope you enjoy checking out my list.

1. Fangirl – by Rainbow Rowell

I’m sure no one is surprised to see this at the top of my list. This book is and I think always will be my favorite YA contemporary romance (though I have some close seconds!!)

2. Let’s Talk About Love – By Claire Kann

And of course this is the second book on my list, again no one is surprised. But hey, if you want a book that will remind you of everything you enjoy about love. This is the book. It is sure to give you a sappy grin.

3. The Hobbit – by J.R.R. Tolkien

Currently my boyfriend is reading this book to me and he does all the voices and characters, so it’s making me smile quite a lot.  Also it’s just such a good book and I have fond memories of my mother reading it to my siblings and I.

4. Hair Love – by Matthew A. Cherry

I wanted a book to break up the many romance books that I have on this list, and this book caught my eye as I ran through the books I read last year.  I loved this book, it was just the cutest little story and I highly recommend it.

5. The Kiss Quotient – by Helen Hoang

Y’all might remember how much this book surprised me. It’s hard for me to find adult romance novels that I love, but this book…Gosh I’m smiling just remembering how cute it is.

6. Pumpkinheads – by Rainbow Rowell

I tried my best to get through this list without using more than one Rowell book, but I just couldn’t do it. Rowell is simply a master of writing adorable grin-worth love stories.

7. Herding Cats – by Sarah Andersen

Who doesn’t love Sarah’s Scribbles? I mean really.

8. Bob – by Wendy Mass & Rebecca Stead

This was another surprise read for me, I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so cute.

9. Deadly Sweet – by Lola Dodge

Of all the books on this list this one is probably the least feel good all the way through, but the between the baking and the great characters I definitely did a lot of smiling while reading it.

10. Amelia Bedelia – by Peggy Parish

I’m not sure why it took me so long to think about this book, but here’s a story that will make you smile, if not also laugh out loud. I can’t wait to read this to my kids.

Don’t forget to share your Top Ten Tuesday posts!

  1. Aww man, I stumbled across Hair Love recently, and I LOVE the illustrations and it looks so cute, but I haven’t read it yet. I’m glad that you enjoyed it! I thought Bob was super cute, too, and Bob himself was so innocent and adorable, how could you not love him?!

    Here’s my TTT post.

  2. Re your boyfriend reading a book to you — with voices?? That’s the dream right there.

And wow, I almost forgot about Amelia Bedelia. Those books were such great exercises in stealth-teaching.

  3. Fangirl and Kiss quotient are two books that I reread pretty frequently. They’re both adorable and perfect and I want movie adaptations of both. Just followed your blog – seems like we have similar taste in books!

    • I would love to see movie adaptions as well! Have you seen that Fangirl is being turned into a Manga? I’m not sure how I feel about it yet but I’m sure as hell gonna read it when it comes out.
Thanks for the follow! Can’t wait to check out your blog!
