February has been a month that has overwhelmed me. The first part of it I was working as a nanny for a 2.5 year old, and throughout all of it I’ve been working my way through four different classes. When I get time to read I usually nap instead. I’m already six books behind my reading goal for the year, but like last year I’m trying to focus on letting go of the goal as a hard and fast rule, but rather just reading what I can, when I can. This month I read five books and each of them was good in it’s own way.
3 Stars:
Luster: I loved the writing style in this book, I enjoyed the main character’s detached way of looking at her life, but I did find that the middle dragged and the ending was…lackluster.
Diaper Free: A hippy book which probably goes without saying, I found the information interesting and took notes on what I found useful, and I disliked how judgmental the author was.
5 Stars:
Tipping the Velvet: I adored this book and I hope to own it someday soon. It’s a beautiful and thought-provoking look at lesbianism in the 1800’s.
The Oldest Student: A cute informative book, I will probably not own it simply because of it’s heavy christian emphasis.
The Diary of Anias Nin Volume Five: I adore Nin and her journals, I’ve found them to be the most inspiring books I’ve read in awhile.
What did you read this month?
I have Tipping the Velvet on my shelf for ages now. I really need to read it soon.
I hope you do! It’s so good!
